Qigong (pronounced “chee-gong”) is a gentle form of movement that focuses on mindfulness. Fusing graceful movement with slow deep breathing and meditation, Qigong helps to improve balance, coordination and mental focus.
Qigong is excellent as part of a healing practice as it reduces stress, improves circulation and metabolism and increases self-awareness and tranquility. Because this movement is slow and gentle, Qigong can be adapted for anyone, regardless of age or physical ability.
Qigong combines methodical exercises (similar to Tai Chi) with mindfulness (similar to meditation), conscious breathing (similar to pranayama or breathwork) and physical postures (similar to yoga).
